Chapter 1698

---

Lance approached and inquired, Shes not talking?

The officer expressed his frustration, Not yet. She wont speak a word, and theres nothing I can do to make her talk. Also, she mentioned she wants to see you.

Let her have some time to herself tonight. Ill visit her tomorrow,

Lance replied. Theres no need to pressure her. Just take care of whats necessary.

Got it. The officer got the message loud and clear that Keilanis situation wasnt typical. He decided to take Lances suggestion to heart and planned to handle it the following day.

In the interrogation room, Keilani slumped back in her chair, her expression tight, gaze lowered, completely still. She waited patiently. Yet, even after a considerable wait, Lance didnt appear.

Keilani was all by herself in the small, box-like room. The room was soundproof, making it eerily silent.

A wave of fear began to wash over Keilani, her heart pounding. Was Lance planning to just leave her here, disregarded?

Hello? Is anybody there? she called out.

But there was no response.

Hello? Can anyone hear me? Im ready to talk Her voice shook.

Again, there was only silence.

Keilani had no choice but to keep waiting.

After what seemed like forever, she was worn out, starving, and sleepy.

She nodded off briefly. Suddenly, she felt like she was falling and jolted awake to find herself still alone in the interrogation room.

She had no idea what time it was.

The following morning, when Lance visited Keilani, he saw how worn-out she looked, with dark circles under her eyes, a dull appearance, and her hair all over the place.

As soon as the door opened, Keilanis eyes sparkled with hope. She straightened up and quickly said, Lance, youre here. I admit I messed up. Please, ask our uncle not to send me to jail, will you?

Just one night here was too much for Keilani. If she had to stay any longer, shed lose her mind!

Lance calmly took a seat across from her, gazed at her seriously, and asked, So, what did you do wrong?

Keilani hesitated, her face tensing. She nervously bit her lip and finally said, Lance You are my brother. Why do you always take others sides?

Still under the assumption that Lance had a crush on Sabrina, Keilani pondered the depth of his love for Sabrina. Did he like Sabrina so much that he even willingly defended Sabrinas friend?

Lance looked at her with disappointment. If I were taking sides with others, I wouldnt be here. I couldve just let the police handle this case and the courts lock you up for years. Havent you realized your mistakes yet, Keilani?

Keilani looked down and admitted, I shouldnt have had someone kidnap Bettie.
